DG NCCSALW Meets HAGF-MOJ, Seeks Strengthened Collaboration on Arms Control

The Director-General (DG) of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), DIG Johnson Kokumo (Rtd) mni, led a delegation to the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (HAGF-MOJ), Lateef Fagbemi SAN, to deepen collaboration on arms control and national security.

The DG appreciated the Honourable Attorney-General for the audience and reaffirmed gratitude for the Ministry’s continuous support, particularly in prosecution efforts and combating impostors who misrepresent the Centre and pose security risks. He also commended the secondment of excellent personnel whose expertise has been invaluable to the Centre’s legal interventions.

The HAGF-MOJ, in his response, underscored the significance of arms control in addressing insecurity, saying that “If you control small arms and light weapons, you largely curb the insecurities we are facing in Nigeria.” He continued, reassuring the DG NCCSALW of his support while stating that “We are all working towards the same goal, so collaboration with the National Centre is not a choice.”

The meeting reinforced shared commitment to advancing policies and legal frameworks that strengthen arms control and national security.
