New National Coordinator Takes the Helm at National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons
The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) witnessed a change of leadership on Monday as Deputy Inspector-General of Police Johnson Kokumo (rtd) mni officially took over as the new National Coordinator from the outgoing pioneer National Coordinator, Major General AM Dikko (rtd).
In a formal handing over ceremony held at the National Coordinator’s Conference Room, Maj Gen Dikko highlighted his efforts in steering the Centre in the right direction during his tenure. He expressed confidence in DIG Kokumo’s ability to build upon the foundation laid and take the Centre to greater heights.
DIG Kokumo, in his remarks, acknowledged the achievements of his predecessor and pledged to continue the good work in fulfilling the Centre’s mandate. With over 30 years of distinguished service in the Nigerian Police Force, including roles as Commissioner of Police in charge of Armament and DIG of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, Kokumo brings extensive experience in crime prevention, security management, and expertise directly relevant to combating illicit arms proliferation.
The ceremony, attended by the Centre’s management team, including the Deputy National Coordinator, Directors, and Zonal Coordinators, culminated in the official signing of handover notes and transfer of documents between the outgoing and incoming National Coordinators.
Established to tackle the menace of small arms and light weapons proliferation in Nigeria, the NCCSALW is poised to make significant strides under DIG Kokumo’s leadership as it continues its critical mission.
